Do You Have Child Active in Sports? Three Essential Oils Products I Always Carry to Events.

If you are reading this I am guessing you have a child just like me that participates in different sports.  We all want our children to excel and perform at the highest level.  I have always left the teaching and coaching to the people who volunteer their time and energy to help our children grow in the sport they are participating.  How do I help impact their performance or just their overall attitude toward competing and enjoying sports?  Since becoming a massage therapist I started using essential oils in my practice and many of them have carried over to my family.  Today I am going to share three items I always had at a sporting event. I use the word had because my youngest daughter now carries her own supply and never goes to an event without them.  Unbeknownst to her I still carry them just in case.  You wouldn’t expect a mother of four to do anything else, would you?

The first essential oil I am going to share is peppermint essential oil.  My youngest daughter is a runner and many days they are running in very hot temperatures.  Peppermint oil promotes a healthy respiratory system and clear breathing.  If you have ever run a 5k or longer you definitely understand how important breathing can be to your performance.  Peppermint oil also can boost energy and just before a race this can help change your mindset to a positive one.    The final benefit is how we started using peppermint at many of the events.  Peppermint aides the body reducing its temperature.  After a long hot run, a drop of peppermint diluted with some fractionated coconut oil applied to the back of the neck can be a soothing feeling.  I use roller bottles where I place a few drops of peppermint with the fractionated coconut oil.  This is something that is easily be tossed in a gym bag.

I began believing in the power of lavender essential oil after my husband had surgery to repair his torn ACL.  He began using lavender essential on his knee in lieu of the opioids prescribed for pain relief.  He did not like how the prescriptions made him feel, band the lavender oil relieved the pain enough that he could function without taking the prescription drugs.  I began carrying lavender essential oil to events as it was an easy way to relieve sore muscles.  Another benefit of lavender oil is many schools have rules against students carrying ibuprofen or any medicine, and this a natural way my daughter can carry a pain reliever without getting in trouble.  Peppermint has been known to help with headaches which is another way for kids to get relief when they cant carry any medicine.

The last product I always have is called Deep Blue which is a blend by doterra.  It comes in an oil and a lotion.  I mainly carry the lotion with me, but you can use a roller ball just similar the way I described with peppermint oil.  Deep Blue.  I have found this lotion is a favorite of my family.  For sore areas of the body, it reduces the inflammation and decreases the discomfort.  My husband keeps one always in his golf bag, and my youngest daughter carries it in her running bag every day.
